The children and women gave me the best memories I have ever had in my life.

When I felt like I was dying walking up the hill from my school to Future Village, the children said, “Selina , come!” with their hands holding mine, pulling me along the way. I was impressed with their kindness for older sisters and brothers like us, and their strength as small children.  I really enjoyed walking hand in hand with them back home to Future Village, and they made me enjoy the journey even though I was sweating and panting.

On the last day of the women workshop, the women showed us their gratitude. When we gave away the leftover materials and tools to the women, the English teacher (one of the women) said, “Why? Selina. You have been so good to us, teaching us the handicrafts and giving us so much joy. And now you give us so many things. But we have nothing in return.” I was so touched by what she said since what we had been giving out were really just little things but they treasured them a lot since it was quite hard and costly to buy such materials and tools in Nepal.  I truly experienced the adage “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”  And at that time, I only wished I could do more things for them in the future.
